Children’s Policy Education Series - Child Care Quality in Indiana presented by The Children’s Coalition of Indiana
United Way of Central Indiana, 3901 N Meridian Street, Indianapolis, IN 46208 RCI Room, Parking to the rear of the building. Enter at security desk.

There are many sides of the child care quality and funding debates. Indiana Family and Social Services Administration (FSSA) Bureau of Child Care is responsible for licensing child care and registering child care ministries. The Child Care Development Fund (CCDF), which provides child care subsidies for low-income children and funds to support quality improvements in child care programs, will likely see reductions in 2011.
Paths to QUALITY, a voluntary quality rating system for child care facilities, is now being promoted statewide. The Registered Ministries Advisory Council recommended legislation last session that would have increased basic health and safety standards for child care registered ministries.
Learn about the state of child care in Indiana and the policy issues that both advance and hinder quality improvement efforts. A panel will include:
• Melanie Brizzi, FSSA Bureau of Child Care
• Erin Ramsey, IN Assoc of Child Care Resource and Referral
• Nikki Ennis, Registered Ministries Advisory Council
• James Elicker, PhD, Purdue University, researcher on quality
(Bring your own brown-bag lunch. Drinks and dessert will be provided.)
