Safe Swimming and Drowning Prevention

Make sure your next visit to the pool, lake, or beach is safe.

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, drowning is the number one cause of death among kids ages 1 to 4.

These deaths are preventable. Experts say drowning happens quickly and quietly. They suggest assigning a responsible adult to closely watch children in or near water.

Supervisors should stay focused: no phones, no reading, no alcohol or drugs. Children still need your undivided supervision even if lifeguards are on duty.
