STRONGER
WITH
FIVE
A vision to ensure Indiana children have a network of at least FIVE supportive, caring adults by the year 2050.
Together, we’re building a stronger Indiana for every child.
That’s the heart of FIVE by 50, Indiana Youth Institute’s long-term vision to ensure that by the year 2050, every child in Indiana is connected to at least five supportive adults.
Research shows that consistent, caring relationships are the foundation of youth well-being, learning, and long-term success. Kids are stronger with FIVE when families, youth-serving professionals, mentors, teachers, and community members work together, children are more resilient, more confident, and more equipped to reach their potential.
FIVE by 50 is a vision to strengthen the web of relationships surrounding every young person in Indiana.
Through shared effort, we can build:
- Connected communities where youth-serving organizations work together to ensure all kids have a network of caring adults to rely on.
- Empowered professionals and organizations who see themselves as part of every child’s interconnected support network.
- Engaged families and caring adults who partner with trusted organizations to expand their child’s circle of support.
When we act together, every child gains the confidence, stability, and opportunity they need to thrive.
Indiana Youth Institute leads this work as a connector, convener, and trusted resource for the youth services field. We bring together organizations, professionals, and communities to align around a shared purpose — helping every Indiana child grow up supported and strong.
Everyone has a role in building a stronger future for Indiana’s kids:
- Youth-serving organizations: Commit to the FIVE by 50 vision and strengthen your partnerships.
- Youth workers: Take pride in being one of the five and share how you help kids connect and grow.
- Families: Partner with trusted programs to build your child’s circle of support.
- Community members: Volunteer, mentor, or support youth-serving organizations in your area.
Together, we can make sure every Indiana child grows up surrounded by five caring, supportive adults who help them learn, lead, and thrive.
